On the 5th February, a socially responsible photo exhibition “The Inconvenient Children” will be open in the National Library of Latvia. Several families raising children with special needs and different diagnoses have entrusted their stories to photographer Arita Strode-Kļaviņa and to whole society.
The aim of the photographer is to show that children with special needs are as wonderful as any typical child; therefore, the emphasis of the project “The Inconvenient Children” is the personality, not disability – the child is seen first, and only then comes their diagnosis. This is the reason there are no wheelchairs or other aids children use every day in the pictures.
Photographer Arita Strode-Kļaviņa has helped society to notice the fragile children, and each of us can offer support that is so necessary. Rehabilitations, procedures, learning sessions are their everyday activities to make the dream of becoming independent as true as possible.
